O:MY Day 4&5 (sorry for slacking!)

Hey hey!
Sorry sorry sorry!!
I know I've been slacking with the updates the past couple days, but I've been trying to get over my foot & have had some "personal issues". But, we're a-okay now, and I promise to be better! :)
So, the past two days have been "meh" for me, because of my foot. I've only been able to do walks w/the pups, no running or Zumba :( It stinks, but I still managed to stay under my limits and lose 1.2 lbs! Yay!
Today I will start back Zumba, and see how my foot is doing, and then if it's still not hurting I'll run tonight!
I'm excited about finally seeing a lower number on the scale! It really shows how your hard work pays off! I'm still working on drinking a crap ton of water, and it's def making me feel better.

One thing I am proud of for this week is my coffee intake! See, we got a fancy shmancy Keurig for Christmas (thanks you know who you are ;)) and we LOVE it. We LOVE coffee at my house. I used to drink 5-6 cups a day.  I have only had ONE cup per day the past week! :) Plus, instead of drinking "coffee with my cream and sugar" I'm actually drinking a TON less sugar and cream in my coffee. Yay simple goals!

Today I have a long day ahead of me! Being married to someone in the military can be a headache with paper work and stuff. I have to go to "check in" at the hospital here, so that they know I am here and I can go to the doctor and whatnot. Sigh, I hope it's a short process! I'm ready to come back home and ZUMBA ZUMBA!

Time to scoot! I'll be back later with my update for day 6!

O:MY Day 3!

Hey hey hey!
This is going to be a short post, so I'll get down to the nitty gritty..

I didn't get to do my Zumba today, because I'm pretty sure I may have started to re-injure my left foot! Last year (around this time) I pulled the muscle in the bottom of my foot, and it hurt all the way up to my ankle. I was in a "cast" and crutches for a few weeks. So, I decided to stay away from Zumba today and get things done around my house. I got a lot of unpacking done, and still managed to eat properly, and not get off track.

Tonight my husband and I ran a mile, and I burned 132 calories. I did my mile in 2 minutes faster than I did last night, which is exciting, but my foot is KILLING me. I am about to go soak it and then ice it for the night. :\ Boo! Please pray that my foot will NOT become injured and I can continue with my regular routine.

Thanks for all the support!!

Jordan

O:MY Day Two!

Hello bloggies! So today was day to of O:MY (operation:make yourself) and it was a fantastic day!
I figured out how to solve my water crisis!
If I carry this around all day, how am I NOT going to get my water fix? Oh I will!
Today I did the 50 minute Zumba Cardio Party (split into two sections) and it was a blast! I get so distracted listening to the people talk and joke on there I forget to focus on the "pain!" I burned 617 calories!! Whoa!
For my lunch I had some delicious Select Harvest Creamy Tomato Bisque soup. I LOVE soup, and most of the select Harvest ones are 100 or 120 calories. I also love the Mexican Tortilla Soup one! That ones amazing too!

Dinner tonight was crazy amazy! It was steak, marinated in 1 TBSP of grape seed oil,  1 TBSP of Wildtree Garlic & Herb Seasoning, and a tea spoon of "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" spread. Mmm! We cooked them slowly on medium (too cold to grill tonight!) and each had a cup of beans, baked for me and black for the hubs. I had a salad for us too, (2 cups romaine lettuce shredded (I use my chopper), 1 cup shredded cheese and Italian Dressing (low fat). It was straight up DELICIOUS. I LOVE cooking, and cooking healthy makes it better!

When my husband got home, we took our dogs for a short (but brisk) walk for 18 mins burning 101 calories, and then tonight we ran a mile, walked 1/3 mile burning a total of 248 calories. I am FEELING THE BURN! I almost stopped mid run, but I am very thankful to have my husband by my side to push me when I want to quit. He's awesome!

My friend Whitney (xothelandofsunshine.blogspot.com) is also working on weight loss, and she helped me come up with a pretty cool idea of creating rewards for myself when I reach certain weight loss goals. So, since I want to lose 37 lbs, here are my goals:
-10 lbs, New running shoes
-20 lbs, New Scentsy warmer & scents
-30lbs, Gift card to Victoria's Secret for smokin hot bikinis for summer!
-37 lbs, a new camera!
Thanks, Whitney!!

I am so excited! Now, however, it is time to shower and GO TO BED! I am exhausted!

Thanks for all the support! See you tomorrow!

OPERATION: MAKE YOURSELF DAY ONE!

Well well well, it seems the time has come to start OPERATION: MAKE YOURSELF! Today was day one! It has been a hectic week here in my world. We just arrived last Friday in our brand new home of Newport News (Yorktown, whatev.), Virginia. It has been a whirlwind of things happening. Yesterday we got our shipment of household goods from Guam in, so it has been unpacking & organizing non stop for me! BUT! I did not let that get in the way of my New Year promise to myself! SO, down to the nitty gritty...

So, since today is day one I guess I should start with my dreaded beginning weigh in? Sigh, here goes! As of today, January 4th (but not for long!!) 2012, I weighed in at 183lbs even. My goal weight is 145. Also, since today was day one, I decided to take it easy, but not too easy. I use MyFitnessPal on my iPhone, and I LOVE it! With the plan I have set up on that app, my goal is to workout (at least) 4 times a week, and lose 1lb per week. So, daily I will consume 1,540 calories. :) So, for today I did 20 minute Zumba express, and burned  218 calories! Woo! I still had calories to spare today! So, I feel fantastic. I cooked a great meal for my husband and me, and we are just super ready to get this weight loss started.

My goal for the weekend is to be able to complete my 60 minute Zumba cardio party without stopping, and drink MORE WATER!!! I have not been drinking enough water.

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I continue my journey to MAKE MYSELF!

xoxo,

OPERATION: MAKE YOURSELF

So, this is going to be a bit of a hard entry for me. I am about to challenge myself to embark on a journey that will (hopefully) change my life.

I have ALWAYS struggled with my weight. Always. I've been tormented by it my entire life. For the longest time I just blamed genetics, because it was "so hard" to lose weight. Well, that's not entirely the truth. I love food. I love it a lot, and it shows. I also love my body, and I want to be healthy. When I grocery shop, and cook meals for my family we def try to make it healthy. We don't eat lots of fatty foods, but our portions are what's doing us in.

I was so proud of the amount of weight I had lost when I got to Guam in July 2010. It wasn't long before the stress of Brad's deployments, and missing my family caught up to me and I started eating through it. I gained a total of 28 lbs in Guam. I have severe issues with my body, and always have. I've tried for years to just tell myself to "be comfortable in my own skin" and "love my body the way it is". That's true to a point, but if I'm unhappy with the number  I see on the scale, and the way I look everyday, I am going to change it. I want to feel beautiful, and be healthy at the same time. I want to wake up every morning and love myself the way I should! My husband gets frustrated with me sometimes, because he tries to make me see that he thinks I am beautiful, and that I don't need to change and I can't see it, but he also supports me in my decision to be fit & healthy. I am so blessed to have him in my life.

I have a goal to lose 31lbs to be where I want to be to feel HEALTHY and BEAUTIFUL.

So, this is OPERATION: MAKE YOURSELF. My goal is to make myself : feel beautiful, healthy, active, confident, and STRONG.
I will get over my fear of working out in public, and go to the gym.
I will hire a personal trainer.
I will eat smaller portions.
I will work for this EVERY DAY, because it means that much to me.

I will start this on January 5th, and continue indefinitely. On that day, I will post my current weight, and goal weight and continue to document my progress.
I need everyone's help to keep me accountable, so all the encouragement and help I can get it appreciated.

Thanks everyone!!

Under Pressure!

"Under Pressure" just came on my iTunes, and this was def. a good title for this blog entry!

We are leaving Guam in less than a week! It's so crazy. There seems like there is SO much to do, and so little time to do it. I am so excited to get home, but feel like there are so many loose ends to tie up here. So, Under Pressure fits me just right these days. All of our stuff is gone, and we're just waiting for our move out. There's some awesome people here who are totally going above and beyond to help us out, and we couldn't be more grateful.

We got our house in VA, which is exciting... but I feel it's going to be forever until I get to make it "my home". I'm so excited though! It's really cute, and it will be so homey when I am done with it. <3

So, that's it for now. I'm just ready to be done with everything going on!

Please keep us in your thoughts as we travel!

Nut up, or shut up

Hey hey hey!

Yep, it's been forever.. but not as long as it usually takes me to update.
SO!

Here's what has happened:
We got our orders... and we're LEAVING GUAM!
We are moving (fingers crossed) November 1st, to head out to Yorktown, VA.
It's been a stressful couple weeks trying to get everything set up & ready to go. The worst of it is done, but we're still waiting for them to come get our stuff. It's supposed to be delivered by the 21st of December and held until we get ready, but I have a feeling it's going to take longer than that to get there. :\ Oh well.
We're going to get to spend a whopping 2 months at home with our families! It's going to be a great time. :) I cannot wait. A year and a half is too long to be away from my family.
I'm just ready for the emotional roller coaster to be over with. Things change, people change, and it's just hard to accept, but there's really nothing you can do about it right?

So, we'll be home super soon & I cannot wait. I am nervous about having to ship Apollo earlier than we leave... he's going to spend the night in Hawaii and it kills me to know I won't be with him. But, he'll be in good hands and I trust he'll be safe. :) My mother in law will be picking him up & giving him too much love until we get there to him!

Sigh. So even though the hard part is over I am ready to be done. I'm going to try to not complain too much.
So, in the words of my favorite zombie killer, " Time to nut up, or shut up." :)
